Hi, I’m Darlene!
I love stories.
I mean I really love them.
I have long been captivated by stories from around the world, by cultures, histories, languages and religions— the entire human experience.
Because I love the history of humanity with all its messy tendrils, there is nothing more thrilling to me than building universes, complete with complex characters, and the struggles they face in building a new world. I bring this love of human history, of myths, legends, language and the innerworkings of the human psyche into all my writings.
I like to explore how myth, memory and legacy shape a world—and what happens when those forces are forgotten or ignored. If you love mythology, ancient cultures, and a blur between spirituality, psychology, metaphysics and science, then you’ve come to the right place!
Darlene Franklin-Campbell’s speculative fiction is a crossroads where science meets philosophy, magic and religions. She explores how they intersect to create intricate, complex worlds that turn traditional elements of the tropes of fantasy, romance and science fiction on their heads. She isn’t afraid to cross genres, blend cultures, tackle languages and tread strange waters in her writing. She writes not only to entertain but to engage the deeper cores of humanity. Her novels are inspired by myths and world religions, by patterns of history, human behavior, psychology and spirituality. She delves into how these intricate elements shape societies and influence decisions.
